The 23rd Rally Costa Brava Històric ended with a remarkably close result. Juan Pedro García and Jan Rosa retained their title in a Citroën AX GT after an event that brought together 105 crews and remained undecided until the final regularity stage.

Five points after more than 1,000 kilometres

According to organiser RallyClassics, the winners finished five points ahead of Carles Bracons and Sergi Giralt in a Peugeot 205 GTI. Carles Fortuny and Carles Jiménez completed the podium in a Lancia Beta Coupé.

Three days of competition covered 25 regularity stages and more than 1,000 kilometres. Rather than outright speed, consistency against the prescribed schedule was crucial. The organiser describes the winning margin as the equivalent of five seconds across approximately 1,500 timing controls.

The final stage changed the result

David Garrigolas and Jordi Boix had led for much of the rally in their Volkswagen Golf GTI. An error on one of the closing stages cost them their place at the front, allowing García and Rosa to take the lead. The winning crew also recorded five stage victories, the highest total of the event.

The third leg ran almost entirely through France, in the Vallespir and Roussillon areas. Back at the rally’s two bases, Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Empuriabrava, spectators gathered for the stage departures. Empuriabrava also hosted a classic-car gathering, a karting-circuit stage and the prize-giving ceremony.

Returning in 2027

RallyClassics says the next Costa Brava Històric will take place in late October 2027. The release does not specify exact dates, so visitors should check the official calendar before making travel arrangements.
